Answers to your questions:

  1. There are some evenings where I still have that issue and I especially had that issue when I first started. I essentially had to train myself and my body to want to go to sleep earlier. The first few nights I tried this routine, I couldn’t sleep until midnight, but I still woke up at 5:30 (and had some terribly sleepy days). What I found was that after a few days, my body wanted to sleep much earlier.
  2. We have that same issue in Canada during the winter. I found that getting in the habit of turning all of the lights on in my room as soon as my alarm went off worked. I’ve spoken to a few people who bought lamp timers or used an Alexa connected to smart lightbulbs. Sometimes you have to get a bit creative to break your old habits.
